IT'S going to be 'Rome or Bust!' for two intrepid motorists who are setting out on a 1,100 mile adventure in aid of charity.

David Gray, aged 30, from Yelverton and his co-driver Dean Cruickshanks, 34, from Plymouth, are setting off from Dover on Saturday for a four day return trip to the Italian capital.

They will be part of a 'fleet' of cars and their drivers who are raising monies for the Martha Trust — which provides inclusive, lifelong care for people with profound physical and multiple learning disabilities.

Teams will be travelling in cars worth no more than £200 which have to be taxed, insured and with a full MOT.

David and Dean's team will be called the 'Roger's Rabbits' — from the Hollywood film — as the friends are both musicians in local band 'Jessica and the Rabbits.'

The driving duo aim to raise £1,500 for the Martha Trust to take part and are hoping Times readers and businesses will support them in their challenge.

David, a music teacher in Tavistock primary schools and director of the Tavistock Music Academy, and Dean, a solicitor in Plymouth, have already raised £500 from a charity gig at the Vauxhall Quay in Plymouth while The Rock Inn in Yelverton has donated £100.

David said: 'We are really exited about "Rome or Bust" because we haven't done anything like this before and we are raising money for such a worthwhile cause.'
