TAVISTOCK Area Support Services benefitted by more than £300 thanks to monies collected by runner Roger Hewitt at the London Marathon.

Roger completed the London Marathon in a time of 3 hours 51 minutes 40 seconds to raise funds for the vital work of TASS.

Roger said ' I wish I had done it faster but in completing it I am glad to be supporting a local Tavistock based charity, which makes such a difference to local people.'

In running the Marathon the money raised will go to help develop the Befriending Service provided by TASS, which helps people on a one to one basis.

Andy Lyle, manager of TASS, said: 'We were thrilled when Roger offered to run the London Marathon for TASS, having experienced the race and seeing the pain barriers runners go through, his achievement is incredible and we all thank him for this marvellous donation towards our work.'
