U11 Ajax League

Railway Beacon 2

Tavistock Town 6

BEACON, near the bottom of the league, went at Tavistock as though they were determined to change their luck.

But Tavistock got themselves together and scored their first goal when Robert Wearing hit the back of the net with a great shot.

Tavistock began to put together good attacking play and were rewarded when on 19 minutes from a hard cross a Beacon player guided the ball past his own keeper.

This was followed a minute later with the first of Josh Robins? goals when he slipped a through ball past the keeper.

The second half started with Beacon again on the attack and they scored their first goal with a fierce shot. This woke Tavistock up and they struck back with Robins scoring his second.

On three occasions the Tavistock defence were forced to clear the ball off their line with the keeper beaten and for this Jamie Court was made manager?s man of the match for his foresight in getting in the right place at the right time.

With 20 minutes to go Jamie Montgomery, Tavistock?s keeper, was substituted and given an opportunity to play outfield ? he scored soon after from a cross from Wearing.

Beacon continued to attack and mid way through the half got their second goal.

Tavistock were gradually getting on top and after 25 minutes Robins got his third goal.

Man of the match: Josh Robins.

This week Tavistock are at home to AFC Plympton 1pm kick-off at Whitchurch.
