A BERE Alston man has shown his kick boxing potential by winning his first competition event at Bridgwater, beating a far more experienced opponent.
It was non-stop action as 23-year-old Rob Hingston from the Taurus Kick Boxing Club in Tavistock took on Matt Finnes in a two-round victory at the Fight Night in the Palace Nightclub.
Rob joined the Tavistock club when it started two years ago and is the first student to make it to competition level so far.
Club founder Jimmy Hamilton, who also runs a club in Plymouth and Callington, said Rob would now compete at a number of events with the aim being to try and clinch a South West title.
?The prospects for Rob look good,? he said. ?Until a student steps into the arena you never know quite how he or she is going to take a shot as well as give it out ? Rob did very well and he came out from the fight relatively unscathed.?
The Taurus Kick Boxing Club currently has 30 students, with men, women and children in the club.
