THE annual Peter Bartlett Youth Regatta was held at Roadford Lake on earlier this month.

More than 25 competitors aged eight to 18 took part in very adverse weather conditions to compete in three sailing races on the lake.

There were several capsizes due to the strong, gusty wind conditions but all the competitors bravely persevered to complete the event.

The overall winner was Alex Hutchings, with runner-up Sam Chilton and in third place was Jacob Hutchings.

Certificates were also awarded to: Ellie Hutchings for most improved topper; Mollie Stallard and Avigayl Kahana for most improved Feva; Jamie Bilkey and Matthew Searle for most improved Pico and bravery awards to Richard Platts and James Collins.

The team award went to Porthpean Sailing Club.

Peter Bartlett MBE, who was the first patron of South West Lakes Trust and chairman of the Royal Yachting Association for South West region, was present to present the certificates and trophy.
