A PAVEMENT In the centre of Lifton, on the old A30 road, is to be widened to make it more accessible for public use by pedestrians.

Adrian Lane for Devon County Coucil, said: 'Pedestrians are to benefit from pavement widening in the centre of Lifton on the old A30.

'A 90 metre stretch of the footway in Fore Street — outside the Arundell Arms — is being widened to around 1.8 metres, making it wide enough for wheelchairs and prams, which currently cannot use it.'

The £20,000 scheme will start on Monday, January 30, using temporary traffic lights, and it is expected to take two weeks to complete. Contractor Glendinnings will carry out the work on behalf the councill.
