PART of the Whitchurch to Grenofen road was closed for further remedial works to the controversial rural gateway this week.

Half a kilometre of the road was closed on Monday and Tuesday while workers installed granite slabs in an attempt to deter what a council official described as 'deliberate over-running' by some users of the road.

Repairs were also undertaken to make good the damage suffered by the grass banks since they were last repaired a couple of weeks ago. Some areas were 'hardened up'.
