OKEHAMPTON Table Tennis Club recently held its first 2* satellite Grand Prix ? players came from Wales, Peterborough, Southampton, Cheshire, London and Kent, to name but a few places. Although only two Okehampton members entered, there were a few entries from Devon, but it would have been nice to see more Devon and Cornwall players entered. It was a successful weekend with excellent play from all categories. The first picture shows a veterans? match between Fred Phillips (Okehampton) and Steve Hill (Somerset). Steve went on to win the Vets? Final. His son and daughter also walked away with a few trophies each. The second picture shows some of the players, referees, umpires and organisers. The most impressive game of the men?s singles was won by Dale Barham from Peterborough, ranked 18th in the country in the senior men?s category, although he is only 19. You do not have to be of match play standard, members play together for fun as well as a knock about. Coaching is available for all ages and levels.
