AN all-day siege in Princetown ended last night (Monday) after a man who had barricaded himself inside his home was retrieved from the roof.
The male, who had barricaded himself in his house in Oakery Crescent, smashed through the roof after police forced their way into the property yesterday afternoon.
He spent more then two hours on the roof before police managed to get the man onto a cherry picker. He is now in detainment.
Emergency services had been on the scene since 8am and armed police were called in as it was believed the man had a knife and a gas canister. It was alleged he made threats to set the house alight.
A 100m security cordon was thrown around the property as a police negotiator tried to persuade the man to leave the property peacefully and neighbours were evacuated from their homes.
Shouting had been heard from the house on Sunday night and again on Monday morning which is when police were alerted, a local resident said.
