RIDERS and their horses are invited to a charity farm ride near Princetown later this month.
The event will allow riders the chance to explore two farms on the High Moor in company with those who live or work there.
Profits from a charge of £15 per rider, will go to Devon Air Ambulance, which provides a vital service to farmers and riders in the most isolated parts of Dartmoor.
Riders can choose between joining a two hour escorted ride at 11.30am or 2pm or a three hour unescorted ride on Saturday, September 29, both routes leaving from Tor Royal Farm.
A leaflet with a map and information about the route will be provided to all riders.
The route is over open moorland so riders should come fully prepared for Dartmoor weather. Hard hats and suitable footwear are compulsory for this event. All riders should have their own third party insurance and under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.
Pasties and a hot drink will be provided for riders on arrival back at the farm — with carrots on standby for hungry horses.
Due to potential hazards to horses, riders or livestock, it is asked that visitors do not bring dogs to this event.
The farm ride is being organised by the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project to give members of the public an opportunity to see different aspects of working farms.
Booking is essential for this event, since places are limited to 15 trailers at the farm. To book contact Justine Colton on [email protected]">[email protected] or call 07892 910666.
