A LONG distance cyclist from East Cornwall will cycle 1,000 miles from Land?s End to John O?Groats this month, in aid of a special children?s project in Ghana. Samuel Kirby from Calstock will cycle the lengthy trip over eleven days, raising money per mile for the Savannah Kids Education Project (SKEP) in Tamala. SKEP supports poor families and their children in the north of Ghana. Its first aim is to make education possible for those children who are not going to school because of financial problems. Money raised by Samuel?s bike ride will enable SKEP to purchase bikes to help street children who live in outlying villages to attend the school and receive an education. Each bike costs approximately £60 and Samuel is aiming to raise £2,500 to cover all the costs. Anyone wishes to sponsor Samuel on his journey should contact him on [email protected]">[email protected] or call 01822 833615.
