THE Lambs were without player manager Pete Gibson but with no Carlsberg fixture they called upon the services of Steve Shaw and Steve Daymond.
Tavistock took the lead against the run of play in spectacular fashion on 20 minutes. Steve Shaw's long-range free kick from out wide and inside his own half completely deceived keeper Lee Roberts who could only parry it into the net.
Shaw then had to clear off his own line before the visitors drew level with five minutes of the half remaining.
The second half was minutes old when the Lambs were unfortunate to lose Paul Cowling with an ankle injury to be replaced by James Yates. Pete Rhodes put the visitors ahead on 50 minutes.
Yates's first touch five minutes later was to put the ball into the net for a Lambs equaliser after good work from Richard Hoskin and Adam Brimacombe.
Andy Bacon came on for veteran Chris Sanders in midfield and the Lambs were having an equal share of the play.
It looked like they would hold out for a point but with two minutes remaining they were awarded a free kick. It was quickly cleared and Burgess was able to race away, his shot was parried by Chris Howells but fell to the feet of Rhodes to stab home from close range.
