A TAVISTOCK firm will be watching Saturday?s Rugby World Cup final knowing they have contributed to England?s progress through the tournament.
The national squad have been honing their scrummaging techniques on a machine provided by Rhino Rugby, based on the Westbridge Industrial Estate.
The company, run by Derek de Glanville, father of former England captain Phil de Glanville, is the official supplier of training equipment to the squad.
The specially designed Rhino 2003 machine was shipped out to Perth, in Western Australia, in September, and has followed the England team to Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney during their campaign.
Mr de Glanville, joint managing director of Rhino, said: ?This machine has extra wide scrum pads, extra width adjustments for the front row, and has a 250 kg weight bar to add to the normal weight of the all-steel frame.
?The power generated by the England forwards during a scrummaging session is awesome, and we have to make sure they train on the most effective and realistic equipment available.?
He said all the staff at Rhino will be cheering England to victory against the host nation on Saturday, knowing they have done their bit.
