HOW refreshing it was last year when Cornwall Council decided to revert to using the Cornwall County Council logo, the Chough and the shield and the 15 bezants from the coat of arms, in place of a new design which supposedly represented growth and movement and which was widely derided.

It is to be hoped that Tavistock College will act in a similar way and reverse the decision to replace the town crest, used by the town for over 300 years, as the school badge with an abstract design which is supposed to suggest unity and cohesion but which is a sad disregard of tradition and aesthetics.
