THERE was good news to start the year for two West Devon restaurants this week.
The new 2002 Michelin Red Guide Great Britain and Ireland has just been launched, and included in the prestigious guide is Gidleigh Park near Chagford, which has retained its precious two stars rating.
The two stars mean that in the view of the Michelin critics, Gidleigh produces 'excellent cooking, worth a detour'.
There are only 13 restaurants in the whole of Great Britain and Ireland which have earned the two-star rating.
The Horn of Plenty at Gulworthy also appears in the guide, having retained its one star and earning it the label 'a very good restaurant in its category'.
It is one of 97 restaurants in Great Britain and Ireland to be awarded star rating by Michelin.
