RESTAURANTS, pubs and tourist attractions in West Devon will feature in an Oscars-style ceremony this month, after winning through to the finals of a social group's awards night, held once every two years.

Devon Social Group, which has hundreds of members in West Devon, has nominated a wide variety of venues for awards.

A DSG spokesperson said: 'DSG awards are about giving recognition to unsung heroes who provide so much for our community and the region's overall economy.

'Devon Social Group wanted to recognise people and venues locally.'

The restaurants and pubs in West Devon which have been nominated for an award are Cellars, Okehampton; the Seven Stars at South Tawton; the Riverside Restaurant, Okehampton; the Oxenham Arms, South Zeal; the Peter Tavy Inn; Christopher's in Tavistock; Steps, Tavistock; the Bird's Nest, Tavistock; Monterey Jack's, Tavistock; the Rock Inn, Yelverton; Dartmoor Inn, Lydford; the Royal Inn, Horsebridge; the Lydford House Hotel; Bearslake Inn, Sourton; the Plume of Feathers, Princetown; Brimpt's Farm, Dartmeet and the Who'd Have Thought It, Milton Combe.

West Devon attractions nominated are the Garden House at Yelverton, Meadowlands in Tavistock and Rowden Gardens at Lydford.

All those nominated for an award have been invited to the DSG Autumn Ball Oscars Party at the Duke of Cornwall in Plymouth on October 5.

Certificates will be presented to all those nominated, with gold and silver prizes for regional winners, after which the overall winner will be announced.
