Okehampton 1st 33 Buckfastleigh 3 OKEHAMPTON completed the double over an improving Buckfastleigh side. With relegation looming for the moorsiders, they fought hard every step of the way, but the strong Okehampton temperament and resolve again was unshaken. Okehampton opened the scoring when Arnie Searle split through the centres to score under the posts. This was followed by a move off the back of the lineout putting Bruce Griffith in close by. Okehampton?s last score in the first half came with Andy Brimmacombe touching down his own chip ahead. He also converted all three first half efforts. Buckfastleigh could only manage a single penalty. For the first 20 minutes of the second half the Okes had to defend for long periods against a desperate effort from Buckfastleigh. The deadlock was broken when Adam Curtis sliced through the centre from the halfway line to score under the posts. With ten minutes to go Ben Woolhams had a dream debut for the firsts. With his first touch of the ball he eluded his opposite winger to race into the corner to record his first try, which was unconverted. Man of the match was awarded to a marauding Danny Carey with Harry Bushin also having an excellent game in the lineout and the loose. This result leaves Okehampton two points clear with six games remaining. This week the first are away to Teignmouth, with the following week being the semi final of the Devon Junior cup at home to Old Public Oaks.
