RESCUE services were called to three road accidents at Whiddon Down and Folly Gate last Friday and Saturday. On Friday two fire crews from Okehampton, one from Chagford and a specialist rescue tender from Exmouth attended an accident at Whiddon Down roundabout, northbound on the A30, just after midday. Only one car was involved and only slight injuries were sustained by the occupants, who were out of the vehicle when the rescue vehicles arrived. The car was made safe. A car overturned at Lamerton Hill, just past Folly Gate on the road from Hatherleigh to Okehampton, on Saturday at approximately 3.20pm. The young female driver was not trapped and escaped with slight injuries. One fire crew from Hatherleigh and one from Okehampton attended and made the scene of the accident safe. The crew from Okehampton was then summoned, along with an extra crew from the town and one from Chagford, to another accident just past Whiddon Down, westbound on the A30. A four-wheel drive vehicle had gone over the crash barrier, but no-one was injured. The crews removed the vehicle from the barrier and made the scene safe.
