NEW affordable homes for rent on a modern housing development in Okehampton are ready for tenants to move in.
Five two-bedroom properties at Kellands Way will be available from Monday, February 10. A further two three-bedroom homes will be available from Monday, February 17.
Priority for the new homes will be given to people with local connections in the first instance. The properties have been built by developer, Linden Homes, and are owned and managed by housing provider, Aster Communities.
West Devon Borough Council worked with the developer to secure the homes as part of its commitment to help create more affordable homes in the borough. The council's community services chairman, Cllr Robert Oxborough, said: 'It is very rewarding when affordable homes get their first tenants. These are lovely properties, built to an excellent standard, and will go some way to helping meet the housing need in the local area.'
People wishing to apply for one of the new properties are urged to make sure they are registered with Devon Home Choice – the service which advertises all social and affordable lettings in the borough. Further affordable homes to rent on the same development will be ready in phases over the next 12 to 18 months.
