STUDENTS from Tavistock College attended a Remembrance Service in St Eustachius recently to remember those from the college who had died in both world wars and other conflicts. Year 9 students from the college went to the church on Friday, November 9 and read out poems and the roll of honour of the students who had died. Student presidents, senators and the students conducted the service which concluded with a message of peace read by students in six different languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and English. After the service presentations were made by the county chairman Brian Cummings, of the Royal British Legion, to local people who had sold poppies for many years. One of the awards went to Maureen Wilkinson, of the RBL, who carried the standard during the service, flanked by air and army cadets from the college. Another went to Whitchurch Primary School pupils and head teacher Angela O?Shea-Warman for the selling of poppies.
