THE Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion is organising a coach for the town's residents so they can attend the 2011 Devon Festival of Remembrance in Exeter.
This year's festival will be held on Thursday November 10 at the Great Hall of Exeter University. This year's theme is the 90th anniversary of the Legion's formation after World War One. One of the dignitaries attending will be the High Sheriff of Devon, the Hon Sarah Lopes, the granddaughter of one of the RBL's founders, Field Marshal Earl Haig.
Starting at 7pm, the event will feature the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines of the Commando Training Centre Lympstone and the Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir. The guest speaker will be the commander of 3 Commando Brigade.
The coach for the event will leave Fore Street at 5.30pm. The fare will be £2 per Legion member, and £7 for non-members. Those wishing to use the coach should sign up on the list posted on the club notice board at the Okehampton branch of the RBL on Station Road.
Festival tickets cost £8 and can be ordered at the Okehampton Social Club on Station Road any evening after 7pm, or Saturday lunchtimes.
