A SPECIAL remembrance service in memory of the victims of road accidents, being held in Ashburton this weekend, will be attended by mayor of West Devon Cllr Ken Williams. Cllr Williams runs the South West branch of thte charity Roadpeace which campaigns for measures to reduce death and injury on the roads. He said with dark winter nights upon us, he was also keen to promote the stepping up of a West Devon road safety campaign. Cllr Williams said the service would remember road death victims from across Devon and Cornwall. 'We will be putting the names of loved ones on special leaves which will be tied to the altar. We have a memorial book with around 80 names in it, sadly many of them are from the Okehampton or Tavistock area,' he said. The service takes place at St Andrew's Church, Ashburton, at 3pm on Sunday, November 19 with an address given by former Tavistock vicar the Ven John Rawlings, now archdeacon of Totnes.
