CALLINGTON firefighters were called to release the occupant of a Peugeot car after an accident at Newbridge, Callington, last Friday at around 2.30pm.

The driver, together with the two occupants of the other car involved, a Vauxhall Vectra, were taken to hospital for checks but were not thought to be seriously injured. The road was closed for two hours.

The firefighters were also called to an incident at Inney Close in Callington, where the occupants of a house smelled ammonia. The area was cordoned off after 25 litres of ammonia was found in a cupboard at the top of the stairwell. The occupants were unaware it was there. The substance was removed by the firefighters and dealt with by Caradon District Council.
