AN EVENING of reflection on worldwide victims of disaster was held in St Andrews Church at Bere Ferrers recently. The idea for the special evening came from villagers who, from 6pm until midnight, were able to come and go, join in and share thoughts and ideas. A literature stall detailed the work of the British Red Cross and Save the Children while short talks were given on situations around the world by Clive Charlton, Steve Rickards and Dee McClellen. Following poetry readings and music, Marcel Kelly introduced a two-hour candle-lit vigil for contemplation and personal prayers. Tilly Kelly asked people to focus on the various unacceptable situations abroad.
