A RAFFLE in Horrabridge aid of the Triangle Centre in Tavistock raised £241.50, with local businesses donating prizes.

The raffle was organised by staff at Reflections hair, nail and tanning centre and the cheque was accepted on behalf of the Triangle Centre by Kay Powles, who thanked the staff at Reflections and everyone at the centre for their support during her illness.

Kay is a client of Reflections and has had cancer. When she told the staff of the Triangle Centre, they decided to hold a raffle to raise money for it — prizes came from mainly village businesses, with a few from further afield.

Kay herself baked a cake for a 'guess the weight of the cake' competition, raising more than £5 towards the final total.

The Triangle Centre was created to provide local support for people with cancer and their families. Support information is offered at all stages and complementary and alternative medicines are available, including Reiki, aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and homeopathy.

The drop-in centre is open Fridays from 10am to 4pm and is at Tavistock Clinic in Plymouth Road. They can be contacted on Fridays on 01822 615935 or during the week at St Luke's Hospice on 01752 401172.

The centre and Reflections thanked the following for their donations: Kay Powell, Butterflies and Roses, Brown's Chocolates, Horrabridge Stores, Osborne's Luxury Cards, Wendy Thornton, Ann Brown, Jameson House, R & D Decorators and the White Hart Inn.
