BUILT 150 years ago as Tavistock School, and for the last ten years as the home of Abbey Surgery, the building in Plymouth Road (on the corner of Chapel Street) has served the community faithfully for a long time. I have friends who have been at school in this building as well as friends who were teachers there. Now, as chairman of the Friends of Abbey Surgery, I have several friends there too! (All patients and staff at Abbey Surgery are automatically friends). Over the last ten years I have been cared for by the doctors there for a chronic illness and I am among many patients who feel grateful for the care we receive. Abbey Surgery celebrates its 10th anniversary as a practice in this building as well as the 150th anniversary of the building of Tavistock School on Thursday, June 15 at 7pm for 7.30pm. There will be a presentation by Gerry Woodcock as well as a cold buffet and drinks. Tickets are available from reception at the surgery or from Juliet (01822 615871) or myself (01566 780408). We hope patients, past pupils, teachers and staff will come and join us to make this a memorable celebration. Caroline Day Chairman Friends of Abbey Surgery Doctors and staff of Abbey Surgery
