THE Tavistock Centre of the British Red Cross recently hosted the bi-annual forum for all volunteers in Devon.
More than 70 people met at the Red and Black Club at Langsford Park to hear talks and receive various awards.
Pam Willerton spoke about Everyday First Aid — a new method of teaching First Aid to members of the public, and Julia Felles, organiser of the Tavistock Centre, spoke about the Medical Equipment Service, which she and her husband Mike run. Julia explained how valuable the service was for visitors to the area, and how important it had been during the last two winters.
Julia announced that the Tavistock Centre had collected nearly £2,400 during Red Cross Week and expressed thanks to collectors and all who gave generously.
At the end of the evening certificates of appreciation were awarded to Mike Felles and Roger Hine for their hard work in supporting the Tavistock branch at the Balloon Fiesta tea tent. Awards were also presented to long standing members from across Devon.
