RESIDENTS of Chagford enjoyed a taste of what is to come in September at the town's third film festival at a glamorous red carpet event on Saturday.

The Candlelit Theatre Company together with the Jubilee Hall Improvement Fund presented a whodunnit dinner 'Murder at the Oscars', with French cuisine and a red carpet.

The event was organised to launch the third Chagford Film Festival, which takes place from September 23 to September 28. Organisers are already filling a busy programme of events as the festival looks to build on the success of last year.

Oscar winning film producer Gareth Unwin, who visited the first festival in 2011, returns with his new film Zaytoun.

Ron Saunders, the former head of Pathe News, will give a talk about filming in the 1930s and '40s from music halls and the Pathe studios.

A night of horror, a chocolate day, a sing-along party and numerous film workshops and talks are also among the plans for the festival.
