AS Christmas approaches we are being relentlessly bombarded with the latest ?can?t live without? mobile phone technology.

For every new phone purchased there will probably be an obsolete handset and charger to add to the millions already piling up at the back of cupboards and bottoms of drawers all over the country.

I remembered a really useful directory distributed by the West Devon Environmental network some time ago where was listed a freepost address to send old phones to for recycling in aid of charity.

I phoned them to find out if they are still able to recycle phones, they confirmed that they are and if they are unable to recycle a phone they can dispose of it in the proper manner. The Freephone telephone number is 0800 0823103 (Charities Helpline).
