THE Devon Record Office is offering free access to online resources to help the public find out about their family history.
The website containing the 1911 census, usually charges a fee, but is available free to visitors to the Devon Record Office in Exeter until the end of March, 2011.
Searchable documents on the website include the Devon Family History Society marriage index 1754-1837, and the baptism and burial indexes 1813-1839.
Cllr Roger Croad, Devon County Council Cabinet Member responsible for the Devon Record Office said: 'It is excellent news that we are once again able to offer free access to this valuable resource.
'The website is an easily searchable online index to help us find baptisms, marriages and burials in Devon.
'The Devon Record Office exists to collect and preserve the historical records of Devon and to make them available to anyone who wish to study them so I would encourage anyone who is interested in finding more about their family history to go along and see what they can find out.'
Devon Record Office is at Great Moor House, Bittern Road, Sowton in Exeter. For more information call 01392 384253, email [email protected]">[email protected] or visit http://www.devon.gov.uk/dro">www.devon.gov.uk/dro
