A PLETHORA of prizes and accolades were presented at Okehampton College?s annual awards evening, which took place at the school on the last Tuesday of term.

College principal Chris Powell said it was wonderful to see large numbers of deserving pupils receive recognition for their efforts during the last year.

Mr Powell said: ?It was a very real pleasure to see so many young people achieving and being recognised for their achievements.

?There were a lot of very proud parents there too, which was good. I think sometimes the part parents play in children?s education is under-estimated, so it was nice to see parents there to see their youngsters in the way they were.?

Mr Powell said it was a ?very special evening? and there was a very positive atmosphere about the whole event.

He said: ?We are a true comprehensive school and within that we have the complete range of abilities and backgrounds.

?We had some pupils awarded for their ability, some for their effort and achievement ? it was really a pleasure to see them receive their awards.?
