REAL ales will be the order of the day at a West Devon pub later this month when it holds a beer festival in aid of St Luke's Hospice.

The Devon Tors at Yelverton will be holding the real ale event between June 19 and 21, with a feast of activities taking place throughout the weekend.

Kicking off the event will be a karaoke evening on the Friday, with the real ale set to flow all day on Saturday and Sunday. Among the other activities will be a barbecue, a draw and live music. Entry will be £2, which will go to the hospice — the beer will be £1.50 a pint.

St Luke's Hospice costs more than £5-million each year to run. Sadly, government funding is limited. Each year at least £3.5-million must be raised from within the local community and it is events like these that help keep the hospice open.
