A LANDMARK church in West Devon, parts of which date back to the 14th Century, has just been re-dedicated by the Bishop of Plymouth.
What started off as a plan to re-decorate All Saints Church at Dunterton turned out to be a major roof repair project after an architect's survey was done.
The £140,000 project was helped by a £94,000 grant from English Heritage and the remainder of the money was raised and sourced by the small but dedicated village of around 40 people.
Rotting beams and trusses were replaced and re-pointing and plaster work was carried out, but it will be two years before the walls are dry enough for church to be re-decorated.
The community will now begin raising money again through its boundary walks which take place twice a year from Endsleigh and Horsebridge to Greystone Bridge, skittle matches and plant sales.
