MEMBERS from the Tavistock branch of the Royal British Legion will be taking part in a VE/VJ Day Commemoration at Crownhill Fort in Plymouth on July 3. The free event is open to the public as well as to all RBL members and will mark the start of National Veterans Awareness Week. Crownhill Fort offers a large number of historic artefacts to interest young and old alike and the programme begins at 11am with a number of static displays by vintage vehicles, service organisations, the RBL Motorcycle branch and others. There will be arena displays by the gun team of Crownhill Fort, Cadets and Royal Marines at 2pm followed by a parade of standards and service of commemoration. At 5pm there will be a beating retreat by the Band of the Devon and Dorset Regiment.
