Tavistock Thistles 9

Hooe Rovers Youth 0

AN early goal from Taylor McCormack from a superb cross from Joshua Leeson set Thistles on the way to a convincing victory.

McCormack scored a second goal after attacking play from Ben White forced a corner. Ben Langton repeated the same manoeuvre shortly afterwards to add his name to the scoresheet.

A break from defence saw a long ball played forward by Jack Quinn, which resulted in a shot by Langton, saved by the Hooe keeper, but followed up by Leeson, scoring the fourth.

The second half began with McCormack completing his hat-trick then being substituted for the fresh legs of Ben Pridham. Dunford added his name to the scoresheet with a one-on-one breakthrough with the Hooe keeper.

At this point a substitution was made with Phillip Snell coming out of goal to play up front and James Northey given the opportunity to show his goalkeeping skills.

Ross Seward came on for Dunford and shortly afterwards a crossed ball to Langton saw a seventh goal.

Keeper turned attacker Snell then scored his second goal of the season with a decisive run through the Hooe defence. Pridham rounded off the afternoon with his 18th goal of the season and a welcome return to the scoresheet.

This keeps Thistles in the fourth position in the league. This week sees them away for a crucial match against YMCA Kitto Parkway.

Man of the match: Ben Langton.

St Cleer 2

THIS was a classic case of a game of two halves. Thistles were slow out of the blocks and put under early pressure by an eager St Cleer side who made it difficult for them to establish any pattern to their game.

Midway through the half St Cleer took the lead following hesitation in the home defence. It became harder when St Cleer scored again to make it 2-0 at the break.

Thistles lost Adam Stephens with an injury at half-time and replaced him with Andy Maddock who gave a good performance. Following a good spell of football Thistles pulled a goal back with a typical finish from leading marksman Darren Phillips.

Thistles scored a deserved equaliser when a good free kick taken by Busuttil found Wallace free on the left who put over a superb cross for Darren Phillips to smash home in great style.

The game had turned competely and it was St Cleer under great pressure from a rejuvenated Thistles who went close to grabbing the winner when Phillips outjumped the defence to thump a header just wide of the post and moments later ran on to a good through ball to hit a great shot which produced the save of the match from the keeper.
