Gunnislake 7

St Dominick 1

MARK Bithell played his first game for Gunnislake for a number of years, having received the telephone call for his services just 30 minutes before kick-off. This ensured the hosts had eleven players as again injury denied the home side a number of players.

For a third consecutive game Gunnislake were forced to start with a different central defensive partnership, left back Mike Vanstone becoming the latest centre half. His usual role was occupied by Matt Avery. Avery, who has played up front in the main this season, had an excellent match.

Bithell was soon into the action when he hit a 20-yarder into the top corner. Saints equalised shortly after but within minutes Andy Morris had restored the team?s lead with a good strike.

Next Kinger was fouled and when he took a short free kick Vanstone drove home from 25 yards to make it 3-1. A third strike from outside the penalty area, this time by Stuart Wakenshaw, ensured Gunnislake went into the half time break with a three goal lead.

Andy Woodward saved a Saints? penalty in the second half before Bithell turned back the clock playing as though he has been a regular to claim two further goals to complete his hat trick. Wakenshaw scored his second of the night to complete the scoring.
