HURRAY for the voice of common sense (letter from Lucy Smith, October 16). I totally agree with all she says.
I am so tired of people expressing their rights to do this, that and the other. Dartmoor exists for all of us, whether we are locals, holidaymakers, farmers, ramblers or the military.
If people want to walk on the moor and find the military are using it, they can walk on another part of it.
They have no God given right to be there; it is a wonderful amenity which we can all share.
Military training is immensely important and our troops are being asked to take part in more and more dangerous operations. Nearly all the locals down here have some connection with the services and if we drive them away to train elsewhere the area will be much the poorer for it.
Ramblers or Royal Marines — not a difficult choice!
