DARTMOOR Rescue Group's Tavistock division has benefited from £900 raised by Higher Longford Caravan and Camping Park this year.

The money will pay for a new lifting stretcher to be used in rescue operations on the moor.

A spokesman for the park said: 'The foot and mouth crisis has reduced the number of events this year, but we hope to do more next year.

'This was our fifth year fundraising for the Dartmoor Rescue Group.

'Most of our customers feel very supportive of this charity due to the large number of walkers on Dartmoor. We are pleased to support them and help provide all the special equipment to help save lives.'

Fundraising at the Park culminated with an annual barbecue held at the end of October.
