LAST Friday was World Autism Awareness Day and to mark this event, a recent speaker for Teignbridge, South Hams and West Devon Parent Carers' Voice will walk from Dover to Land's End to raise awareness and funds for charity.

Sara Lyons, who spoke about autistic spectrum disorder at the Parent Carers' Voice event at the Red and Black Club in Tavistock last month, will be enduring a 50-day walk from Dover to Lands End for the charity, Lifeworks.

Sara was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome seven years ago and so has a view into the complexities of autistic spectrum disorders, which helps her to offer advice and support to people with the condition, and those who care for them.

The walk started last weekend and Sara hopes to walk into Land's End on May 21.
