IT'S the end of the Rainbow for Okehampton's only Christian Bookshop which will close later this year after four years serving the needs of Christians in the town. Angela Garnham, who owns the Rainbow Christian Bookshop in Fore Street, said she reluctantly took the decision to close the shop because lack of trade made it a struggle to be commercially viable. She said: ?I have been putting off making the decision for a while to see if it was going to turn around. In the end I had to make the decision because it is costing us money to keep the shop open. ?It was quite heart-wrenching to have to call time.? She thanked all her customers and those who had rallied to the rescue and agreed to become supporters of the shop two years ago when it had previously faced financial problems. ?The support has been really good. Without a lot of prayer and support, I don?t think we could have stayed open this long.? Angela said her experience of running the shop had led her to question if a town the size of Okehampton could support a Christian bookshop ? there are two such bookshops in Exeter and another one in Launceston. She said the shop would remain open for a while yet, and urged people to visit and pick up a bargain, as she was now concentrating on trying to sell off as much stock as possible.
