IT?S a standing joke with organisers of the Island Park Party in Hatherleigh that the skies will open for the big event ? and true to form, the rain came down on Saturday but it did little to spoil the fun. This annual fundraiser for the town carnival, now in its third year, attracted party goers who had gone to great lengths to join in the wild west theme. Crowds of ?cowboys and Indians? enjoyed a ram roast and rodeo ball, sideshows and attractions and two live bands. Lily Bater and Rory King won the under eights fancy dress competition and the over eights was won by Callum Entwhistle and Phoebe Reddaway. The best adult was Mandy Wonnacott. Adam Keats won the rodeo competition by ?clinging on? for one minute and 33 seconds. Duck race winners were Sarah Miles and Zacinta Halsted-Cann.
