THERE'S a chance to brush off the brain cells at a quiz night in Tavistock tomorrow (Friday) — and raise money for a good cause at the same time.
The event is being held at the Ordulph Arms and will raise much-needed cash for the Santa Rosa Fund, a small, locally-based charity which supports a school in Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua. The fund also helps other educational programmes and initiatives in the country, which suffered severely in the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch in 1998.
Despite being small, the charity is proud of its record of delivering aid directly to where it is needed and using few resources in administration.
The quiz night will raise money to buy school materials in Managua, which will be delivered to the school.
Teams of four are welcome to enter the quiz night, which will be held in the function room through the kind donation of landlord Andy Coad. The bar will be open and a raffle will be held.
The emphasis of the evening is on fun — all are welcome. For details, call Pat Mayston on 01822 840297.
