THE Bridestowe branch of the Torridge and West Devon Conservative Association held a quiz night at Bridestowe Village Hall on April 7 in aid of party funds and Help for Heroes.
Ninety people enjoyed a hot supper in addition to the quiz, some travelling from as far away as Callington.
Geoffrey Cox MP spent more than an hour in the hall talking to participants and pledged a bottle of champagne for the draw, the top prize for which was a boat trip up the Tamar to Cotehele and back.
Gross takings were well in excess of £1,000 and after the deduction of expenses a very worthwhile sum will remain for the benefiaries.
