IT IS now a year since Castle Quilters of Okehampton presented the town with their Millennium Quilt but have they been idle since — certainly not!
With the help of Westbridge Quilters and Upcott Quilters of Okehampton and the Friendship Quilters of Bridestowe, they have all been busy making lap quilts for the folks of Gajs — a residence for 75 homeless senior citizens in Gracanica in Bosnia.
The quilts will be taken out to the home in December by the Mustard Seed Relief Mission based in Eastbourne, Sussex. They will be presented to the charity at a coffee morning in the Charter Hall on September 14.
All the money raised alt the coffee morning, which starts at 9am, will go towards the transport costs of getting the quilts plus 40,000 shoe boxes containing gifts for children to their destination.
