WHITCHURCH Ladies lost the toss against Plymouth and were put into bat. The openers, Cathy Griffin and Sarah Murphy took the score along to 62 in 8 overs before Cathy Griffin was run out. Lesley Smith then joined Sarah Murphy and the score was moved on to 131. Sarah Murphy was then bowled out, This brought Gaynor Pollard to the wicket. Gaynor Pollard added on 31 to the score before being caught by the Plymouth team. Next to the wicket was Candy Capeling and she scored a quick fire 51no including an incredible 2 sixes. Lesley Smith scored a 49no. Plymouth had a mammoth total of 237 to chase! Ang Hunt opened the bowling and took a rapid two wickets in the first over. New player Sarah Daymond in her first league match also took three wickets in her three overs. Cathy Griffin, Lesley Smith and Jenny Kay shared the other four wickets. There was excellent fielding by Donna Ward, Briony Jones and Debbie Taylor who helped to keep the Plymouth score to a minimum. Plymouth were all out for 47 runs.
