SO, around 300 more houses are being planned for Okehampton. Are there actually 300+ Okehampton people requiring housing or are we just pandering to this Government's desire to place the whole of our lovely countryside under concrete?

Have the planners made provision for the influx of probably 400-500 more cars in the town? Are shopping facilities planned for that area or are ever more cars going to converge around the existing three supermarkets?

We have gridlock there already at peak times and with the new projection of traffic numbers it would be chaotic.

What about the size of the hospital, schools, library, the frequency of buses for those who have no transport, the water and sewage situation?

But also, what about the environmental impact? Where has that pleasant rural town gone and where is it going? Soon it will be no more than an urban sprawl, undistinguishable from many other 'new' towns.
