MEMBERS of Mary Tavy Methodist Church were pleased to receive a letter of thanks on behalf of the Queen recently.

A recent service to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee was held at the church, and a card of congratulations was sent from the congregation.

Members were surprised when a letter of thanks was returned. It was written by Jennifer Gordon Lennox, the Queen's lady in waiting, who said: 'The Queen wishes me to thank you and the members of Mary Tavy Methodist Church, for your card and message of congratulations on Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee.

'The Queen thought it kind of you to tell her that you are to hold a thanksgiving service, to mark this special anniversary, and Her Majesty was touched by the thoughtful sentiments which you expressed.

'The Queen hopes that you will much enjoy the service of thanksgiving, and Her Majesty sends her thanks and good wishes to you all.'
