THE Annual Lewdown Flower and Produce show was held on Saturday. There was a record number of 529 entries, with the Stemson family entering 100 exhibits and taking many winners? cups. With a record number and exceptional quality of the children?s entries the future looks good for this village event. Show president Brian Wonnacott thanked all those who had spent much time in preparing for the show, and the judges who had a difficult time in choosing the eventual winners. He also thanked those who had entered the show. The cups were presented by Brian Wonnacott, Andy Nash and Roy Stacey. The judges praised the quantity and quality of the exhibits, and there was fierce competition for the overall prize of best exhibit in the show which was awarded to an entry from Mrs Martha Lethbridge. The floral arrangements were as always a delight and received high praise from the judges. Vegetables were of a good quality despite the sudden changes in weather patterns this year. In the children?s section there was praise for the poems, model of a beach on a tray, and a robot made out of junk. Cookery this year at this rural show was exceptional with more entries then ever earning high praise for their quality. WINNERS Section A Parsnips: B W Wonnacott. Carrots: J Pengelly.
