Marjon 3rd 2 Okehampton Columbines 7 A GOOD team performance by the Columbines saw them to a comfortable win in their first league hockey game of the season. The opening goal came from a cross into the circle by Jo Stephens for Viv Weatherington to score. A short while later Stephens herself fired a shot into goal and Columbines went 3-0 up when Debbie Pritchard slammed the ball home. Columbines were then caught on the break and Marjon scored from the resulting corner. Okehampton went into half-time 4-1 up after Smith struck home from a corner. Columbines took their feet off the pedal a bit in the second half and Sophie Whiteley had to make a number of good saves in the Okehamptopn goal. Okehampton pressed forward and from another corner Debbie Pritchard struck the ball well to Jo Stephens who was on the right post, to deflect the ball in for Okehampton?s fifth. Jo Moppett finished off the game, although Marjon did manage a further consolation goal.
