TAVISTOCK resident Adam Holland recently underwent a week-long intensive course for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).
The RYLA courses are an intensive training programme in leadership development and teamwork for young people aged between 14 and 30. The course is a blend of physical activity, cerebral activity and taking people out of their comfort zones. It produces a unique experience and learning environment, radically changing peoples lives enhancing their self belief.
This provides the young people with the opportunity to put these skills back into society, improving their own and others lives.
Adam Holland, 26, having completed the course, said it certainly provided all these things, as well as a lot of new friends.
The South West District of Rotary is fortunate to have Jack Russell, one of the country's leading motivational coaches, overseeing the course held at Brimpts Farm at Dartmeet.
